We Need You!
The SoCal Christian Writers’ Conference depends on the generous assistance of our faithful volunteers. Many hands make light work!
For some volunteer positions, we can offer a full scholarship to the conference; for others, a partial scholarship. If you are able to help in some capacity and also attend as a paid registrant, that’s a double blessing for us!
If you would be interested in being part of the SoCal CWC planning team, check out the various opportunities below. If something strikes your fancy, please use the contact form at the bottom of this page to let us know how you can help!
Pre-Conference Volunteer Positions
These jobs require attention and planning prior to the event. Most of them need to be started as soon as possible.
Become familiar with the Biola campus and our specific rooms. Also become familiar with our program, schedule, and faculty members. Put together a team of greeters to assist conferees at the event. Get acrylic stands and print paper inserts with faculty members’ names. Make paper signs for workshop room doors (laminated or inserted in plastic sleeves). Make copies of forms for goodie bags. Receive goodie bags and fill them. Get boxes or baskets for forms that conferees will fill out at conference. Collect those forms after each day of the conference. Meet with team of greeters at the conference and coordinate their duties.
Communicate with faculty members and attendees who will need transportation between the airport and the conference, and between the conference and the hotel. Coordinate with faculty members and attendees who can provide transportation. Shortly before the conference, confirm travel arrangements. At the conference, make sure everyone gets where they’re supposed to be.
On-Site Volunteer Positions
These jobs require little to no pre-conference time commitment, except perhaps a little training time. Volunteers need to be willing to skip a portion of the conference to fulfill these tasks.
Assist Registration Coordinator in the mornings, prior to the start of the conference activities for the day, getting conferees registered and making sure they have their folders or bags with programs, name tags, etc.
After familiarizing themselves with the program and the facility, greeters will help faculty and conferees determine where they want to be and how to get there.
Book Table Assistants
Assist Book Table Coordinator with faculty members signing in books at the beginning of the event, setting up books in an attractive manner, making sales, keeping the table tidy, and working with faculty members to sign out unsold books at the end of the event.
